Issue of the "Mother and Child Health Handbook"(Boshi-techo)
Once you have a certificate of pregnancy from your doctor, please get a copy of the Mother and Child Health Handbook from the Health Center. They have copies in English,Chinese, Korean and Spanish. This notebook contains health information and advice for pregnancy, and is also to record important information about the birth (date and time, name of the hospital or facility, etc.) as well as details of your baby's vaccinations and growth. Always bring it with you to vaccinations and health checks, and please use it to record your child's health.
Health checks for expectant and nursing mothers
At the same time as you are issued with the Mother and Child Health Handbook you will be given the "Mother and Child Health Guide"(Boshihoken-no-Shiori); this entitles you to free health checks for pregnancy and as a nursing mother. Please show it when consulting a doctor at a medical institution within the prefecture. When you have a medical examination outside of the prefecture, you need to pay the full cost.
However, by presenting the receipt and a record of your visit to The Health Center, you will be reimbursed.
Infant health checkups
Please have your child's health checked at 1 month and 11 months at a medical institution within the prefecture. Please show your "Mother and Child Health Guide"when you see the doctor.
We will look at your child's physical and mental development, and will discuss childcare with you.
Health check for 4-month old infants
Place: The Health Center
Time: 13:15-13:45
Details: Physical measurements, consultation with a doctor, childcare advice, baby food sampling
The health check will take about 30 minutes.
Health check for 18-month old infants

Health check for 3-year olds

- Please check your child's eyesight and hearing ability at home before you come.
- Please bring a urine sample taken on the day.
The health check will takeabout 30 minutes.
Vaccinations for children
There are two groups of vaccinations: group vaccinations aregiven at the Health Center, and individual vaccinations aregiven at a medical institution.

Time: 12:45-13:30
Age: Children between 4 months and 7.5 years old.
Notification: When your child is between 3 and 15 months old (separate notifications will be sent out in April and September)

Health checks
The city holds "Nonoichi Iki Iki Health Checks" (Mass health checks / Health checks at medical institutions). A voucher is sent in mid-May to people entitled to thehealth check.
